While many species in this group are considered beneficial entomophages that prey on aphids, their role in agroecosystems is complex. The damage caused by Brumus includes superficial feeding on leaves, which can manifest as irregular holes or damaged epidermal layers. The level of harm is often linked to the density of the population. When levels reach critical thresholds, the loss of leaf surface area can hinder plant growth, delay maturity, and potentially lower the overall yield potential of the crop, particularly in legumes and young cereal crops.
