The genus Chrysaora, commonly known as sea nettles, belongs to the family Pelagiidae within the class Scyphozoa. It is vital to clarify that this organism is a marine invertebrate and is not a plant pest. It has no biological connection to terrestrial agriculture or crop production.

The lifecycle of Chrysaora involves a polyp stage (scyphistoma) attached to substrates in salt water and a free-swimming medusa stage. These organisms are predatory, consuming zooplankton and small marine animals, and do not possess the biological machinery to feed on plant tissues or vascular flora.
