Clitostethus is a genus of small beetles belonging to the Coccinellidae family. While many coccinellids are beneficial predators, certain species within this genus can behave as pests under specific agricultural conditions, particularly affecting ornamental plants and greenhouse crops.

Taxonomically, Clitostethus is classified within the order Coleoptera, family Coccinellidae. Their small physical size often masks their presence in the early stages of infestation, making professional agronomic monitoring essential for early detection in large-scale nursery and greenhouse environments.

The pest primarily targets decorative flora, vegetable crops, and fruit-bearing shrubs. By feeding on the plant tissue, they disrupt the normal metabolic processes of the host, which is particularly detrimental to high-value ornamental plants where aesthetic quality is paramount.
