The transverse lady beetle (Latin: Coccinella transversoguttata) is a member of the Coccinellidae family within the Coleoptera order. While commonly recognized as beneficial predators of aphids, this specific species can occasionally shift its feeding behavior towards plant tissue, acting as an agricultural pest in certain ecological conditions.
These insects primarily target vegetables, cereal crops, and ornamental trees. The feeding process involves consuming leaf tissue and delicate flower buds, which compromises the plant's structural integrity and diminishes its overall health and productivity during the critical growth phases.
