The Cochylis moth belongs to the family Tortricidae, within the order Lepidoptera. These moths are widely recognized in agricultural entomology as significant pests affecting various horticultural crops. Systematically, they are classified under the subfamily Cochylinae, consisting of small moths whose larvae cause substantial economic losses by feeding on the generative parts of plants.
Primary target crops for these pests include vineyards, where they are often referred to as grape berry moths, as well as various fruit trees. The larvae are notorious for their destructive feeding habits, which can severely compromise plant growth and reduce the overall quality and quantity of the harvest.
