Conoderus scalaris is a species of click beetle belonging to the family Elateridae, order Coleoptera. The larval stage of this insect, commonly known as a wireworm, is a recognized agricultural pest capable of causing significant economic losses by feeding on the root systems and underground stems of various crops.

This species infests a diverse range of crops, with the most severe impact observed in corn, sugarcane, potatoes, peanuts, and soybeans.
