Copitarsia consueta is a harmful insect species belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Noctuidae. The host range of Copitarsia consueta is extensive, encompassing numerous economically valuable plants. It primarily targets crops such as asparagus, various Solanaceae (tomatoes, peppers), onions, corn, and many ornamental flower varieties, making it a concern for both field agriculture and the greenhouse industry.

The life cycle of the moth consists of four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa, and adult. The larval stage is the most destructive, during which the caterpillars feed voraciously on leaves, stems, and reproductive parts of the plant. Depending on environmental conditions, multiple generations can occur annually, leading to overlapping populations.

Damage caused by this pest is characterized by extensive defoliation, skeletonization of leaves, and boreholes in fruits or floral clusters. The feeding activity of the larvae not only reduces plant vigor and yield but also creates entry points for secondary pathogens like fungi and bacteria, leading to rot and total crop loss.
