In the field of agronomy, this species is recognized as a complex insect that often functions as a hyperparasitoid, significantly influencing the population dynamics of beneficial insects that control primary crop pests.

The insect is frequently found in various agroecosystems, including cereal crops and vegetable farms. Its presence is typically linked to aphid infestations. By parasitizing the primary parasitoids (braconid or aphelinid wasps) of aphids, Dendrocerus liebscheri disrupts the natural balance of insect populations, which can lead to uncontrolled outbreaks of primary pests.

The biological cycle of this species consists of complete metamorphosis. The female lays eggs within the mummified remains of aphids containing the larvae or pupae of primary parasitoids. The larva of the hyperparasitoid consumes the primary parasite from within. Once the feeding stage is completed, the larva pupates, and the adult insect emerges to continue the cycle depending on ambient temperatures and humidity.

As a result, aphid populations remain high, causing direct damage to plants, such as curling leaves, stunted growth, and the transmission of viral diseases, ultimately leading to significant yield losses.
