Systematic position: The pine coneworm moth (Dioryctria auranticella) belongs to the order Lepidoptera, family Pyralidae. It is a highly specialized insect species that primarily targets the reproductive organs of conifers, causing economic losses in seed orchards and forest ecosystems.
