Systematic position: The Sakhalin gall wasp (Dryocosmus sakureiensis) is an insect belonging to the order Hymenoptera and the family Cynipidae. These specialized insects are well-known for their ability to induce the formation of galls — abnormal outgrowths of plant tissues that serve as both a food source and a protective shelter for their larvae.

Host plants: This pest primarily targets oak trees (Quercus). It causes significant damage to various oak species, particularly affecting saplings in nurseries and mature trees in urban environments.
