The Lantana gall mite, scientifically known as Eriophyes lantanae, is a specialized mite species belonging to the family Eriophyidae. These microscopic pests are notorious for their ability to induce abnormal tissue growth on their host plants, significantly affecting the aesthetic and physiological state of the infested specimens.

The primary host for this mite is Lantana camara, a popular ornamental shrub. The mites specifically target meristematic tissues, such as terminal buds and young shoots. By colonizing these areas, the mites interfere with the plant's natural development, leading to stunted growth and structural anomalies in the foliage and flowers.

The biology of the mite is characterized by a rapid life cycle and high reproductive potential during the growing season.
