Gypsonoma is a genus of small moths belonging to the family Tortricidae. These insects are recognized as significant pests in forestry and ornamental horticulture, primarily because their larvae feed on the buds, shoots, and leaves of various deciduous trees, particularly poplars, willows, and birches.

Systematically, Gypsonoma is classified within the order Lepidoptera. The genus contains several species, with Gypsonoma dealbana (the common bud moth) being one of the most economically relevant. These moths are characterized by their nocturnal activity and protective coloration that helps them blend into tree bark during the day.

The biology of Gypsonoma revolves around a specific phenological synchronization with the host plant. The pests overwinter as young larvae in silken cocoons located in bark crevices.
