Halyzia exiguenotata is a member of the ladybird beetle family (Coccinellidae) that, under specific conditions, can exhibit phytophagous behavior, causing damage to agricultural and ornamental plants. Systematically, this species belongs to the order Coleoptera. Although most members of this family are beneficial entomophages, this species requires particular attention from agronomists due to its capacity to damage foliage.
