Hypogastrura tullbergi is a species of springtails (Collembola) belonging to the family Hypogastruridae. These minute hexapods are commonly found in damp soil environments, leaf litter, and potting media. The pest primarily targets young seedlings and tender plant tissues. It is most frequently encountered in greenhouse production, nurseries, and indoor plant collections where growing media remains constantly wet and rich in organic components. In these environments, they shift from feeding on fungi and detritus to actively consuming living plant tissues.

The biology of these organisms is defined by rapid development cycles dependent on moisture levels. Females lay eggs in clusters within the soil pores. The nymphs resemble adults and undergo several molts before reaching maturity.
