Systematic position: The Gold triangle moth (Hypsopygia costalis) belongs to the order Lepidoptera, family Pyralidae. It is a well-known pest that specifically targets dried plant materials, often becoming a significant problem in agricultural settings where large quantities of hay or straw are stored for animal feed.
Crops damaged: This species primarily feeds on dried hay, particularly alfalfa and clover, as well as straw.
