The genus Isophya belongs to the family Tettigoniidae, commonly known as bush-crickets. These insects are characterized by their green body coloration, which serves as camouflage within their natural habitats. While they are a natural part of meadow ecosystems, certain species can exhibit outbreak behavior, transitioning from beneficial insects to agricultural pests when environmental conditions facilitate rapid population growth.

These pests pose a threat to a variety of agricultural commodities, including cereal crops, legumes, vegetable varieties, and orchards. They are polyphagous, consuming various parts of the plants, from leaves and stems to developing flowers and fruits. Management strategies focus on a combination of cultural and chemical controls. Maintaining field boundaries free from tall grasses and weeds helps reduce the local population density.
