Systematic position: Lagocheirus obsoletus belongs to the order Coleoptera, the family Cerambycidae, and the subfamily Lamiinae. This wood-boring beetle is known for its ability to infest the stems and branches of various trees, often exploiting vulnerable or weakened specimens.

Host plants and economic impact: The pest targets a range of deciduous species, frequently attacking fruit trees and urban ornamental plants. By boring into the host, the larvae disrupt the vascular system, significantly reducing the tree's vitality and, in severe cases, leading to the collapse or death of the host plant.
