The speckled bush-cricket (Leptophyes punctatissima) is a member of the Tettigoniidae family within the order Orthoptera. This insect is relatively small and predominantly green, making it extremely difficult to detect among dense foliage. Despite its cryptic nature, it can reach high population densities, posing a threat to various plant species.

This pest is highly polyphagous, meaning it feeds on a wide variety of plants. It commonly affects fruit trees, ornamental shrubs, grapevines, and various vegetable crops. In agricultural settings, it thrives in gardens and meadows, often causing localized but significant damage to young leaves and tender growth stages of the plants.

The life cycle of the species consists of eggs, several nymphal instars, and the adult stage. The winter is passed in the egg stage, which the female inserts into plant tissues or bark crevices.
