Melinda (lat. Melinda) is a genus of insects from the family Calliphoridae, belonging to the order Diptera. While many members of this family are known as natural decomposers, some species of this genus can show activity near agricultural fields by interacting with organic residues and damaged plant tissues.
This pest mainly damages crops that are in a state of decay or have damaged succulent fruits. In agroecosystems, Melinda can be found on vegetable and fruit crops where primary damage is caused by other pests or fungal diseases, creating an environment suitable for larval development.
