Morimus asper is a large beetle species belonging to the Cerambycidae family within the order Coleoptera. Known commonly as a wood-boring beetle, this insect plays a specific ecological role but is often considered a pest in forestry and orchard management. Adults are easily identified by their rugged, dark-colored elytra and exceptionally long antennae.

The host range of Morimus asper primarily includes various broad-leaved tree species. It frequently infests oak, beech, poplar, willow, and occasionally fruit trees. The beetle typically targets trees that are stressed, dying, or already decaying, making it a significant factor in the natural decomposition process of woody biomass in forest ecosystems.
