The harmful impact manifests as a decrease in the technical quality of the timber, stunted tree growth, and an increased susceptibility to secondary pest infestations or fungal pathogens.
Control measures rely on integrated forest management practices. It is crucial to perform sanitary thinning and clear sites of deadfall and standing dead trees promptly. In orchard settings, it is recommended to maintain high standards of arboricultural care, utilize sticky traps, and apply systemic insecticides upon the initial detection of signs of trunk infestation.
