Neuroterus papillosus is a species of gall wasp (family Cynipidae, order Hymenoptera). These insects are known for their ability to manipulate the growth of host plant tissues to create specialized structures known as galls, which provide a protected environment for their larvae.

The primary hosts for this wasp are oak trees (genus Quercus). The insect typically targets the leaf tissue, where the adult female deposits eggs. This interaction initiates a physiological response in the tree, leading to the development of characteristic gall formations on the undersides of the leaves.

The life cycle of Neuroterus papillosus involves complete metamorphosis. Larvae feed exclusively on the nutritive tissues within the gall.
