Description

Systematic position. The three-spotted longhorn beetle (Oberea tripunctata) is a member of the order Coleoptera and the family Cerambycidae. This insect is a known wood-boring pest, categorized among the longhorn beetles, which are significant threats to various woody plants in forest and orchard ecosystems.

Host plants. The primary targets of this species are deciduous trees, specifically those belonging to the Rosaceae family. Plum, cherry, and apricot trees are the most commonly infested hosts. The pest exhibits a strong preference for young, vigorous branches, which facilitates the survival and development of its larvae.

Biology and life cycle. The life cycle consists of a complete metamorphosis. Adult beetles typically emerge during the spring and summer months. After mating, females create incisions in the bark of healthy branches to oviposit. The resulting larvae bore into the xylem, constructing galleries that severely impair the tree's physiological processes.
