Oreodera quinquetuberculata is a species of longhorn beetle (family Cerambycidae) belonging to the order Coleoptera. It is recognized as a significant wood-boring pest in tropical environments, particularly noted for its presence in South and Central American agricultural and forestry ecosystems.

The beetle primarily targets various woody plant species. Of particular economic concern is its impact on cocoa plantations (Theobroma cacao), where the larvae utilize the trunk and branches of the tree as both a food source and a protective environment during their developmental stages.

The biological cycle follows the typical metamorphosis of longhorn beetles. Adults lay eggs on the bark, and upon hatching, the larvae penetrate the woody tissue. They spend a considerable portion of their life cycle tunneling through the internal structure of the host tree, consuming the wood and creating galleries that can compromise the tree's structural integrity.

The damage caused by Oreodera quinquetuberculata is essentially structural and physiological. By disrupting the transport of nutrients and water, the feeding activity of the larvae weakens the tree significantly. This makes the host susceptible to secondary infections from fungi and pests, eventually leading to stunted growth or tree mortality.
