Description
The genus Orthetrum belongs to the order Odonata and the family Libellulidae. In agronomy, these insects are not classified as plant pests. Instead, they are highly efficient predators (entomophages) that play a vital role in maintaining the balance of agroecosystems by consuming various smaller insects.
The life cycle of the skimmer dragonfly consists of an aquatic nymph stage and an aerial adult stage.
