Osphranteria (commonly Osphranteria coerulescens) is a genus of longhorn beetles belonging to the family Cerambycidae, order Coleoptera. As a wood-boring pest, it is recognized for its detrimental impact on woody plants, often posing a significant challenge for fruit tree cultivation and forestry management.

The primary hosts of this beetle include various stone fruit species, such as apricots, peaches, almonds, and plums. The larvae of the pest target the trunk and larger branches of the trees, feeding on the inner bark and sapwood, which can eventually lead to the destruction of the plant's structural integrity.

The biological cycle of the beetle typically spans multiple years, depending on environmental conditions. Adult beetles emerge in late spring or summer to mate and oviposit on the bark of susceptible trees. Upon hatching, the larvae bore into the tree, creating intricate galleries that disrupt the vascular system responsible for transporting water and nutrients.

Visible damage is often indicated by the presence of frass (boring dust) near the entry holes on the bark and the gradual wilting of canopy sections. In advanced stages of infestation, the disruption of sap flow causes branches or the entire tree to dry out and die, leading to significant economic losses for growers and producers.

Controlling this pest requires an integrated approach that emphasizes prevention and maintenance. Effective management strategies include the following:
