Description

The Hazel leafroller (Pandemis corylana) is a moth belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Tortricidae. It is a common pest that poses a significant threat to deciduous trees, particularly those grown in commercial orchards and home gardens.

This pest has a wide range of host plants, including apple, pear, plum, cherry, and various forest species such as hazel, oak, and linden. Its ability to thrive on both cultivated and wild vegetation makes it a resilient inhabitant of diverse ecosystems.

The life cycle typically consists of one generation per year. Larvae overwinter in a quiescent state, protected by silk cocoons within bark crevices. As temperatures rise in early spring, they emerge to feed on developing buds, transitioning to foliage as the season progresses.
