It is a migratory ectoparasitic nematode that lives in the soil, primarily targeting the root tips of diverse agricultural crops.

Crops and economic impact: This nematode infests a wide array of vegetable crops, including garlic, onions, potatoes, and sugar beets. By feeding on the meristematic cells of root tips, the nematode prevents normal root elongation.
