It is recognized in agricultural entomology as a pest species that primarily targets rice cultivation, particularly in various regions of Southeast Asia and surrounding tropical areas.

The primary host for Parnara bewani is the rice plant (Oryza sativa). The larval stage (caterpillar) is the most destructive, as it feeds voraciously on the leaf blades.
