Pedostrangalia revestita is a species of longhorn beetle (Cerambycidae) known as a wood-boring pest. In its larval stage, this insect lives inside the trunks and branches of various deciduous trees, where it feeds on the internal tissues, often causing significant stress to the host plant.

The host range of this species is broad, encompassing various broad-leaved trees such as oaks, beeches, and hornbeams. In agricultural settings, it is particularly known to infest weakened or stressed fruit trees, including apple and pear varieties, where it targets areas of damaged bark or localized necrosis.

The lifecycle of Pedostrangalia revestita typically spans multiple years, during which the larvae develop within the wood. The female beetle lays eggs in bark crevices, and the larvae burrow into the cambium and sapwood upon hatching. These larvae spend a long period feeding and creating galleries, eventually pupating within the wood before the adult beetles emerge.

The damage caused by this pest is primarily internal. By boring through the conductive tissues of the tree, the larvae disrupt the transport of nutrients and water. This interference often leads to the decline of branch health, wilting, and in severe cases of infestation, the total death of the tree if the damage is widespread enough to gird the trunk.
