Perichares is a genus of butterflies within the Hesperiidae family, commonly known as skippers. In agricultural settings, particularly within tropical and subtropical regions, certain species of this genus are identified as significant pests that target palm trees and other monocotyledonous crops, causing damage during their larval stage.

Taxonomically, Perichares belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the family Hesperiidae. These insects are characterized by their rapid, skipping flight pattern as adults, while their larvae are robust caterpillars that are specialized feeders on specific host plants, often showing high preference for plants in the Arecaceae family.

The primary damage is caused by the caterpillars, which consume the foliage of host plants. They are known for their leaf-rolling behavior, where they fold or tie leaves together with silk to create a protected shelter.
