Description

Systematic position: Phalera bucephaloides belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the family Notodontidae. As a member of this family, it shares typical characteristics with other prominent defoliators, often exhibiting cryptic coloration that allows larvae to blend in with foliage and twigs.

Host plants: This pest primarily targets deciduous trees, showing a strong preference for Quercus (oak) and Fagus (beech) species. In agricultural landscapes, it can also infest various fruit-bearing trees such as Malus (apple) and Pyrus (pear) when these orchards are situated near natural forest habitats.
