Phalera javana is a moth species belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Notodontidae. As an agricultural pest, it is primarily identified in parts of Southeast Asia, where its larvae are known to cause significant damage to various forestry and economically important plant species.

The biological cycle of this insect involves complete metamorphosis: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The moths are nocturnal, and their larvae are gregarious during the early stages of development. Their rapid growth rate requires constant foliage consumption, which puts nearby vegetation at high risk during outbreaks.
