The Eucalyptus longhorned borer (Phoracantha recurva) is a significant wood-boring insect belonging to the order Coleoptera and the family Cerambycidae. Originally native to Australia, this invasive species has successfully established itself in various regions worldwide, particularly in warm-climate zones where Eucalyptus trees are cultivated.
This beetle primarily attacks trees within the genus Eucalyptus. While the pest shows a clear preference for stressed, weakened, or recently felled trees, high-density infestations often result in attacks on healthy, vigorous specimens, causing widespread mortality in forest plantations.
