Chestnut phylloxera (Phylloxera castaneivora) is a specific type of insect belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Phylloxeridae. This microscopic pest specializes in infesting certain tree species, exerting a significant impact on their overall health and productivity.

The primary host plant for this species is the sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa). The pest settles on the leaves, where its feeding process triggers the formation of specific pathological tissue growths known as galls, within which the insects complete the main stages of their life cycle.
