Oak phylloxera

The Oak phylloxera (Phylloxera quercus) is an insect belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Phylloxeridae. It is a specialized pest primarily associated with the genus Quercus. This pest exclusively targets oak species. The insects prefer the undersides of leaves, where they establish colonies to feed. By inserting their piercing-sucking mouthparts into the leaf tissue, they extract vital plant sap. This feeding activity disrupts the plant's nutrient distribution and affects its overall physiological stability during the critical stages of growth.

The biological cycle of the Oak phylloxera involves complex generations and developmental stages, including eggs, nymphs, and adults. The species exhibits high reproductive potential, allowing it to rapidly colonize host trees.
