Smooth longhorn beetle

The smooth longhorn beetle (scientific name Phymatoderus glabratus) belongs to the Cerambycidae family within the order Coleoptera. It is recognized as a technical pest of timber, primarily affecting coniferous trees. The species is well-adapted to forest ecosystems and can become a significant nuisance in areas where forest management practices are neglected.

The primary hosts for Phymatoderus glabratus are spruce and pine trees. These beetles demonstrate a preference for weakened, stressed, or recently felled timber.
