Description
The Oak longhorn beetle (Plagionotus arcuatus) is a wood-boring insect belonging to the family Cerambycidae. This beetle is widely distributed in forest habitats where it plays a dual role in the ecosystem, often acting as a secondary pest in weakened tree stands.
These beetles primarily target oak trees (Quercus), although they can occasionally infest other broadleaved species. Their presence is often a sign that a tree is already under physiological stress, making it more susceptible to colonization by various wood-boring larvae.
