The Tufted apple bud moth (Platynota flavedana) is a member of the Tortricidae family within the order Lepidoptera. It is a well-known pest in horticultural systems, primarily recognized for its ability to damage a wide variety of fruit and ornamental crops in North America.

The host range of this moth is quite broad, encompassing major commercial fruit crops such as apples, pears, peaches, and strawberries. It also affects various woody ornamentals, including roses and maples, where the larvae feed on both foliage and floral buds, causing significant aesthetic and structural damage.
