The groove-bellied click beetle (Pleonomus canaliculatus) is a significant pest belonging to the order Coleoptera and the family Elateridae. While the adult beetles are relatively harmless, their larvae, commonly known as wireworms, are recognized as serious soil-dwelling pests that cause substantial damage to various agricultural crops globally.

These pests have a broad host range, feeding on the roots and underground parts of many economically important plants. Affected crops typically include wheat, barley, maize, potatoes, sugar beets, and a variety of vegetable species.
