Systematic position: The long-snouted stink bug (Poecilocoris longirostris) belongs to the order Hemiptera and the family Scutelleridae (jewel bugs). This insect is known primarily as a specialized pest that affects specific perennial crops, particularly in subtropical agricultural regions.
Affected crops: The primary host plant for this species is tea (*Camellia sinensis*). These bugs are significant pests on tea plantations, where they concentrate on the tender shoots and leaves of the tea bushes. In the absence of primary hosts, they may occasionally be found on other related shrub species.
Biology and life cycle: The life cycle consists of the egg stage, five nymphal instars, and the adult stage. The insects typically overwinter in protected areas, emerging as temperatures rise.
