Description
The Carpenterworm moth (Prionoxystus robiniae) is a destructive wood-boring insect belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Cossidae. It is widely recognized as a significant pest of various hardwood trees, often causing severe structural damage to the host plant.
This pest infests a broad range of deciduous tree species, including black locust (robinia), oak, ash, maple, and poplar. It is particularly problematic in urban forests, plantations, and ornamental landscapes where the loss of tree vigor or structural integrity can pose safety risks.
