The host range of the maple twig borer is restricted mainly to various species of maples. The larvae are the stage responsible for the damage, as they feed on buds, young leaves, and tender shoots. Their presence is often detected in nurseries, urban landscapes, and forest margins where maple trees are cultivated for ornamental purposes.
The biological cycle of this pest is synchronized with the bud burst and early spring growth of the maple tree.
