Sclerobia (lat. Sclerobia) is a genus of insects belonging to the family Pyralidae (snout moths). These pests, part of the order Lepidoptera, have specialized larval stages that feed on plant tissues, making them a subject of interest in plant pathology and agricultural entomology.
This pest is primarily associated with woody plants and various shrub species. The larvae are known for their hidden lifestyle, boring into stems, branches, or fruit. This cryptic behavior often makes detection difficult until significant damage has already occurred within the host plant tissues.
The biology of Sclerobia is synchronized with the phenology of its host plants. Typically, they overwinter as larvae or pupae within protected structures such as bark crevices, plant debris, or soil.
