Seinura is a genus of microscopic roundworms belonging to the family Aphelenchoididae. These organisms are commonly found in soil habitats and play a complex ecological role, functioning either as phytoparasites or as predators of other small soil invertebrates, which makes them significant in the context of plant health and soil biodiversity.

Taxonomically, the genus Seinura is classified within the order Tylenchida. A key characteristic of these nematodes is their specialized buccal stylet. This structural adaptation allows them to pierce plant cells for nutrition or, in predatory species, to hunt other nematodes, significantly impacting the stability of the rhizosphere environment.

These nematodes affect a wide range of crops, including cereals, vegetable varieties, and ornamental plants. Their feeding activity primarily targets the root system and plant bases. This mechanical damage often leads to physiological stress in plants, causing stunted growth, yellowing, and an increased susceptibility to secondary infections such as fungal rots and vascular diseases.

The presence of these pests is often detected through soil analysis and symptom observation during the growing season.
