Sogata vibrix is a significant insect pest belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Delphacidae. This species is recognized as a specialized herbivore often found in high-humidity agroecosystems, particularly affecting rice cultivation and various wild grasses that grow in wetlands.

The primary damage caused by Sogata vibrix is directed toward rice crops. While specialized, the pest is capable of feeding on various grass species in humid habitats. Due to its feeding habits, it can cause localized but severe economic damage to yields by draining the sap from vital parts of the plant.

The biology of this pest is closely linked to the water management of the fields. Its life cycle consists of three distinct stages: egg, nymph, and adult. Both adults and nymphs are highly active, often congregating at the base of the stems where they remain protected. High humidity and favorable temperatures drive intense reproduction rates.

Feeding damage involves general plant depletion due to the extraction of nutrients. Furthermore, the puncture wounds made during feeding serve as entry points for secondary pathogens, leading to stem deformation and reduced overall plant vitality.
