Stagetus borealis is a species of beetle belonging to the Ptinidae family within the order Coleoptera. While often overlooked due to their cryptic lifestyle, these insects are significant pests that specialize in colonizing wood and woody tissues, often targeting trees that are already suffering from stress or poor maintenance.

The beetle primarily affects a variety of deciduous trees and woody shrubs. By targeting the cambium and the outer layers of the wood, Stagetus borealis disrupts the plant's vascular system.
