Host plants: The beetle acts as a polyphage on various deciduous tree species. Its primary targets include birch, alder, aspen, and willow trees. In orchard settings, it may target fruit trees, especially those that are already stressed by environmental factors, drought, or lack of proper pruning, making them susceptible to infestation.

Biology and life cycle: The lifecycle of Strangalepta vittata involves a complete metamorphosis. Adult beetles are active during the warm months and are often observed feeding on flower nectar, which is a benign behavior. However, the females oviposit in bark crevices. The resulting larvae bore into the xylem, constructing galleries that weaken the structural integrity of the host plant over months or years of feeding.

Damage patterns and economic impact: The damage is primarily caused by larval tunneling. These galleries disrupt the flow of nutrients and water within the tree's vascular system.
