Strophiona is a genus of insects from the weevil family (Curculionidae), belonging to the order Coleoptera. In the field of agronomy, certain species within this genus pose a significant threat to various agricultural and wild-growing crops, demonstrating a distinct trophic specialization on specific plant tissues.

This pest primarily affects legumes and certain species of trees and shrubs. Adult insects cause significant damage to leaves by chewing characteristic holes, while larvae develop within plant tissues, in the soil, or inside the root system, which complicates early detection and control efforts during the initial stages of infestation.

The biology of Strophiona is characterized by complete metamorphosis. The life cycle includes the stages of egg, larva, pupa, and adult (imago). Hibernation usually occurs at the imago stage in the soil or under leaf litter. In the spring, when temperatures become favorable, the pests begin active feeding and egg-laying, which coincides with the period of active vegetation for host crops.
