Description
Tersilochus (Tersilochus jocator) belongs to the order Hymenoptera and the family Ichneumonidae. It is a specialized parasitoid wasp that serves as a vital natural biological control agent against the pollen beetle (Brassicogethes aeneus), a notorious pest of brassica crops.
The host plants affected by the pest and consequently targeted by this wasp are primarily oilseed rape (winter and spring varieties). Although it does not damage crops directly, its presence is crucial for the ecological balance of the field, as it targets the larvae of the pollen beetle that feed on flower buds.
